Unilin’s IP division filed an IPR petition to invalidate I4F’s recently issued US patent

05/03/2019

On March 1, 2019, Flooring Industries Limited SARL (FIL), Unilin’s IP division, filed an Inter Partes Review (IPR) petition with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), challenging the validity of Innovations4Flooring’s US patent 10,053,868, issued on August 21, 2018. Innovations4Flooring (I4F) asserted this patent on February 28, 2019 against Wellmade Floor Coverings International, Inc., Wellmade Performance Flooring and Costco Wholesale Corporation.

Unilin and FIL are confident that the PTAB will decide that all claims of I4F’s patent are unpatentable in light of the prior art identified in the petition.

The expected invalidation of the patent would render I4F’s patent totally irrelevant to Unilin’s one-piece folddown solution, Unipush, which is one of the most intuitive to install and easiest to produce pushdown technologies ever invented.

More information about Unilin’s Unipush technology can be found at:  http://www.unilintechnologies.com/en/Flooring/Technologies/Fold-down/Unipush/.
