Unilin continues to defend SPC patent portfolio against Vilox

NEWS

Unilin Technologies, a global leader in flooring innovation, stands firm in its dedication to protecting its extensive SPC patent portfolio. On January 30, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) ruled that a specific non-foamed SPC product from a single Vilox licensee is not covered by the three patents asserted in the 2019 Unilin ITC action. US Customs and Border Protection however agreed with Unilin’s argumentation that the ruling should be limited to the unique non-foamed SPC sample Vilox presented to CBP. Unilin already filed a district court complaint against Vilox based on different patents within their SPC portfolio.

Wego, Goodfellow, and Jiangsu Success release collections with Unilin’s Comfort Core Technology with improved ergonomics

29/07/2022

The Comfort Core Technology creates a soft, comfort-first feel with every step. This ground-breaking innovation was developed by Pelican Creations Home and Unilin Technologies in the beginning of the year. Jiangsu Success recently started the production of this ergonomic technology. Wego International Floors and Goodfellow Inc. rolled out collections with this technology for the US and Canadian market.

Comfort Core Technology integrates a soft ‘’comfort” layer underneath the top layer(s) of resilient products in order to upgrade the sound characteristics of the floor while also improving the ergonomics and walking comfort. “You can almost compare it to walking on carpet, because the sound is much better than walking on traditional SPC,” states Floris Koopmans, Sales Director at Unilin Technologies. “It’s not only more sustainable and recyclable, but it’s also an upgrade in performance.”

Jiangsu Success recently started production of this technology. “The engineers from Unilin Technology customized the tool layout to adapt to the special build up,” states Richard Yao, General Manager of Jiangsu Success. “We had a lot of support on site to make sure the correct profiling was possible for the mass production stage.”

The innovative technology is incorporated into the Sound Pro collection of Wego International Floors. The collection will be distributed in the US for multi-residential construction projects by Michael Halebian & Co. because of its sound dampening properties. One of the largest flooring distributors in Canada, Goodfellow Inc. will be rolling out their own CushionTech collection at the end of the year to their extensive dealer network across the country.

“This technology is gaining more and more interest from the market and it is now implemented by large flooring companies. Other flooring manufacturers and distributors that want to start implementing this ergonomic technology into their resilient products can reach out to us,” states Floris Koopmans, Sales Director IP at Unilin Technologies.
