Unidrop

Unidrop is a one-piece, fold-down technology that provides superior locking performance without the use of plastic inserts in the profile and guarantees easy installation for the short sides of the panel. This glueless locking profile is the follow-up model of the Unipush technology, and is suitable for all types of core materials.

Installation

The Unidrop locking system can be installed by vertically dropping one plank into the adjacent plank and fully fixating the click with a rubber mallet or dead-blow mallet. This fast and easy installation method is especially advantageous for DIY projects. After installation, this profile ensures a complete and strong horizontal and vertical locking.

Unidrop is the first one-piece fold-down that also makes deinstallation faster, easier and more intuitive: where traditional one-piece, fold-down locking systems must be disassembled by shifting the boards horizontally to be correctly detached from each other without causing damage, the Unidrop technology offers the unique possibility to be detached by simply angling up one panel.

This unique deinstallation method benefits end users in several ways. First of all, this method is a more intuitive movement, hence preventing unnecessary damages. Additionally, manufacturers can put more pretension on the short side of the panel, because the profile does not have to be disassembled by shifting horizontally. As a result – just as in the Uniclic profile – there is extra pretension and better water impermeability.

Locking performance

The overall locking strength of the Unidrop profile is achieved through the flexibility in the lower lip of the panel. This profile offers horizontal locking in 2 places and vertical locking in 3 places, which results in superior locking performance that has proved to be generally stronger than its competitors.

Features

Unidrop is known worldwide for its strong locking performance which can be attributed to several unique technical features included in the profile design.

Flexible lower lip

Unidrop flexible lower lip

The combination of a flexible lower lip and strong tongue ensures a strong and reliable locking after installation. The flexible lower lip will bend out and allow for the locking system to fully connect, while the robust tongue won’t break or edge. This ensures that any production or installation deviation is captured at the bottom of the floor rather than at the surface, which prevents common industry claims such as edge damaging issues and ensures a flawless top surface finish that withstands any floor traffic over time.

Pretension

Unidrop pretension

Another important feature is pretension. The Unidrop profile is designed to create a pulling force between the two flooring panels. This tension pulls the engaged planks closer together, which ensures there are no unwanted gaps or spaces between floorboards. Pretension is an important feature to obtain a watertight floor.

Positive angle

One of the features of the Unidrop profile is a positive angle, setting it apart from other one-piece fold-down profiles. This design allows boards to be disassembled by simply angling them upward – rather than shifting them horizontally – making de-installation more intuitive and reducing the risk of damage. Additionally, the positive angle simplifies milling by allowing for larger milling tolerances.

Engineered for quality

Tests were performed on SPC flooring products with exactly the same core material.

Profile tensile test

Profile tensile strength test uniclic

18% stronger

This test measures how much horizontal force a locking system can withstand before disconnecting or breaking.

It simulates real-life conditions such as temperature changes and everyday foot traffic.

Vertical load test

Unidrop vertical load test

179% stronger

This test measures how much vertical weight the short-side locking can withstand before disconnecting or breaking.

It simulates everyday situations such as heavy furniture or high heels near a joint.
