Unilin Technologies launches patented slip resistance technology for ceramic tiles at TECNA

30/08/2022

Unilin Technologies will be launching an unsurpassed slip resistance technology for ceramic tiles at TECNA. The slip resistance technology is integrated into the production process without affecting the design or smooth surface touch. This patented innovation will be available as technology package “GripTile”.

Tiles treated with GripTile have high slip resistance that will not wear off, even in high-traffic commercial spaces or specific residential spaces such as bathrooms, kitchens, and pool areas. By creating a safer and more reliable surface for walking, it decreases injury or damage claims from slipping accidents.

“GripTile creates safer surfaces because of its intrinsic slip resistance, but it is also naturally safe and made from non-toxic chemicals,” states Jasmine Geerinckx, Business Development Director at Unilin Technologies. “It makes life more comfortable in places where the floor could get slippery, especially for children and elderly people.”

As it is an intrinsic characteristic of the products, the high slip resistance will not modify the design of the tiles. The surface remains soft to the touch and is easy to clean. Tiles treated with GripTile combine a beautiful look with a soft touch that is perfect for both indoor and outdoor areas.

The GripTile technology exceeds all standards as it is not just a surface technique or non-slip coating, but the technology is infused into the ceramic tiles to increase its dynamic coefficient of friction (DCOF). GripTile also performs well above the standard in other tests such as the DIN 51130, DIN 51097, pendulum tests and BCR.

“We are excited to share this technology with the world”, states Nathalie Tack, Sales Representative Unilin Technologies. “GripTile is such a versatile technology with so many advantages that really take ceramic products to the next level, not only in terms of safety but also durability.”

Unilin Technologies will be presenting GripTile together with other technologies for ceramics, as well as SPC solutions at TECNA from 27 until 30 September in the Rimini Expo Centre at Hall D1 Booth 026.
