Improve the look, feel the groove

Bevels can really change the look and feel of flooring products.

The choice of the bevel type can give floors a more natural look, close to real wood products -or even ceramic tile lookalikes - and can elevate a floor to the next level of authenticity.

By pioneering bevel technologies since 2001, Unilin creates more design versatility and practicality for flooring producers.

Micro Bevel

The micro bevel is created by milling away part of the floor panel’s wear layer in a shallow angle, which gives a

Unilin invented and patented the micro bevel technology. Since then, the technology has become widely popular and used all over the world.

Micro bevel

Lacquered bevel

The lacquered bevel is created by milling away part of the top layer of the flooring panel, including a portion of the core material, and then finishing the bevel with a colored lacquer. This process results in a bevel that is deeper than a standard micro bevel, adding a more pronounced edge detail.

This technology has continuously evolved since its invention. Modern lacquering techniques now allow for greater design flexibility, enabling manufacturers to accentuate bevels with matching or contrasting colors for a distinctive look.

Over time, the technology has also expanded to include middle-slit milling, making it possible to create tile or herringbone patterns for even more realistic and versatile flooring designs.

Middle snit

The lacquered bevel technology evolved to incorporate the middle snit milling for tiles or herringbone simulations.

Pressed Bevel

The beveled edge is created by pressing down the decor layer so that the decor layer and its structure continue all the way to the deepest point of the bevel.

This gives the floors a high end look that is closer to real wood. Unilin patented this process and licenses it out to its licensed partners worldwide.

Irregular Bevel

The pressed bevel technology for resilient flooring is still evolving by adding special effects and shapes.

The irregular bevel is a perfect example – it gives a realistic authentic look to the floor.

Grout

Flintile bevel

Flintile is a groutable bevel integrated in the locking system for rigid composite tiles with real grout.

This ceramic alternative creates joints that are 100% waterproof. The floating installation is possible on existing floors, making it perfect for renovation purposes.

The installation is clean and DIY-friendly and can be walked on in less than a day.

Unigrout

Unigrout is a specific bevel for the edges of rigid or dryback tiles that look exactly like a grouted groove and which is almost indistinguishable from real grout. This bevel technology is available for both rigid as dryback installation, and offers a lot of flexibility in the choice of bevel width and depth.

Matte Bevel

Standard vinyl floors with micro bevels often suffer from shiny edges that disrupt the natural look of the design. The Matte Bevel technology offers a solution to this problem, delivering a high-end appearance. This is especially advantageous on light-colored designs where glossy bevels are most noticeable.

This innovative solution uses a unique milling technique to create a subtle matte effect on the bevels. The patented process can easily be integrated into an existing milling line: just swap out the tool and start producing.
