Bevel Technologies

Lacquered bevels
The beveled edge is created by milling away part of the top layer of the floor panel and decorated by painting it with a lacquer. The technology is most suited for creating uniform-color beveled edges.

Non-exhaustive list of licensable patents relating to the lacquered bevels technology.

Transfer foil bevels
The beveled edge is created by milling away part of the top layer of the floor panel and decorating it by transferring a print to the milled surface. The technology enables integrating a motif on the bevel.

Non-exhaustive list of licensable patents relating to the transfer foil bevels technology.

Printed bevels
The beveled edge is created by milling away part of the top layer of the floor panel and decorating it by printing directly onto the milled surface, e.g. by means of an inkjet printer. The technology enables integrating a motif on the bevel.

Non-exhaustive list of licensable patents relating to the printed bevels technology.

Pressed bevels
The beveled edge is created by pressing down the decor layer, e.g. during the lamination process. The beveled surface carries the same decor as the surface of the floor panel.

Non-exhaustive list of licensable patents relating to the pressed bevels technology.

LVT bevels
The beveled edge is created by milling away part of the top layer of the floor panel to thereby expose an underlying layer of thermoplastic material. The underlying layer makes up for the color of the beveled or straight surface.  A second technique consists in milling away part of the top layer of the floor panel and decorating it with paint or lacquer.

Non-exhaustive list of licensable patents relating to the LVT bevels technology.

Postform bevels
The beveled edge is created by pressing down the decor layer after the lamination process. The beveled surface carries the same decor as the surface of the floor panel. Unilin has entered into cooperation agreement with the company "Berry-Alloc" in order to increase the patent protection on this technology.

Non-exhaustive list of licensable patents relating to the postform bevels technology.

HPL bevels
The beveled edge is created by milling away part of the top layer of the floor panel to thereby expose an underlying kraft paper. The kraft paper makes up for the color of the beveled or straight surface.

Non-exhaustive list of licensable patents relating to the HPL bevels technology.
